creative process

Design is a process of stages, completed in order to realize the original concept into graphic form.

 Client establishes a need.

PROJECT BRIEFING
Client & Designer establish an outline of goals, criteria and priorities.
We determine budget, create schedule, and note all requirement details.

PROJECT ESTIMATE
Designer provides written formal estimate with “not-to-exceed” clause.
* New clients must provide 30% deposit before project proceeds to next stage.

RESEARCH & ANALYSIS
Designer analyzes information from project briefing and the overall context of the project, including
market and competition research.

ROUGH CONCEPTS
Designer incorporates information from stages 1 through 4 into several graphic preliminary concepts.
Best concepts are presented to the Client for review. Reproduction processes, websites, photography, and/or illustration requirements as well as related costs are discussed.
* New clients must provide second 30% deposit before project proceeds.

REVISIONS
Most often, the original presented concepts are used as a base or foundation towards an improved design.
Designer uses information from stage 5 and revises design until both Client and Designer are satisfied.

DESIGN CREATION
Designer creates the final design components, which are unique to your specific project. If developing
websites, the Designer works closely with the programmer coding the site to ensure the vision is maintained.
This stage involves communicating with printers, etc to ensure all specifications and requirements are met.

FINAL PROOFING
Designer ensures all aspects of the project are complete and satisfactory. Final designs are examined closely
to ensure project is error-free. Files are cleaned up, organized and press ready. Websites are tested. Client
ensures final designs are to his/her satisfaction and signs off on job.

DELIVERY
Designer sends all files to final destination: printing company, web server, merchandiser, etc. Client is
responsible for signing all required outside proofs (eg. printer proofs). All completed files are emailed or posted
to the client download area for the Client’s use. Files will remain posted for a maximum of 14 days. If files are
required on cd or dvd, a minimal charge will be applied. Final invoice of remaining balance is issued.
